Meet Maya Appenzeller
Owner Maya Appenzeller is happy to own a business in her community that provides a service locals and visitors can rely on! Fresh food, excellent customer service and hot coffee are just some of the things Maya’s customers can expect each time they visit the General Store.
Maya grew up In Stewart. After graduation, she moved away for twenty years and pursued a career in mining as a Heavy Duty Equipment Operator. It was Eva Appenzeller’s passion (Maya’s mom) to open a grocery store as she loved this community and had a knack for growing herbs, vegetables and flowers. Eva's Swiss heritage gave her the expertise in cooking and baking that would stun any guest who had the opportunity to try her culinary skills. Eva wanted to pass these delights on to her customers which is why you will also find everything from Gruyère Cheese from France to Landjaeger (dried sausage) from Freybe. The staff at Harbour Lights always looked forward to Eva's weekly soup she put together!
